Cluster II Leadership Development & Talent Management

Cluster I Inorganic Growth
What is the objective behind having the India Advantage cluster in the overall initiative? What is the criticality of the cluster to the success of this initiative?
The ‘India Advantage’ cluster aims to identify the India-specific advantages that could help Indian companies evolve innovative business models / products / practices to leapfrog in global markets. The India Advantage could be in terms of resource advantage (such as availability of skilled labor force, large market) or the skills developed by operating in this market. The focus of this cluster is to identify the unique skills / competencies developed by companies operating in Indian market and to explore how they can be extended to the global markets. The cluster will also draw lessons from the experiences of current Indian global players, which could be useful for the country as a whole.

What is the broad approach (framework, process) of the cluster?
We would follow the case study approach. First, we would identify the successful products / services / business models of Indian companies in both global and Indian (with the potential to go global) markets. We would analyse these successes in detail to understand what specific India Advantage has been leveraged in these successes. We will also explore how each of these ‘India Advantages’ can be leveraged across the businesses of cluster members.

What would the cluster do to achieve its objectives?
Preparation of case studies
Creating generic frameworks that could be applicable for the cluster members
Ex: Building high performance product teams
Ex: Last mile training and development
Detailed interactions between cluster members to benefit from each others experiences
To be decided based on the June 25 meetings

What will be the performance indices for the cluster?
The No. of active members
No. of cluster meetings / cluster interactions, etc.,

What are some of the innovations that the cluster will bring to the initiative?
This is the first time Industry is trying to identify the country-related success factors and leverage them across the industries. So far, the effort has been only benchmarking the best practices in terms of processes and systems.

What is the road map for the cluster in the next 6 months to one-year time frame in terms of activities (workshops, training programme, site visits etc)?
Will be decided at the June 25 meeting, based on the requirement of cluster members. The broad roadmap is:
Regular cluster calls – once in a fortnight
Face-to-face cluster meetings – once in two months
A few company visits to have detailed discussions with the practitioners
